| Introduced in 1991, the Regional District
of Nanaimo's Blue Box curbside recycling program serves 20,000 single family homes
in the area stretching from Cassidy to Deep Bay.
The
RDN provides both residential curbside recycling and garbage collection to the
RDN's eight electoral areas and the City of Parksville. Lantzville and the Town
of Qualicum Beach participate in the region's recycling program but provide their
own garbage collection service.
Our Contractor:
The RDN has contracted Waste Services Inc.,
to provide recycling service in the Town of
Qualicum Beach. They can be reached at 1-866-999-8227.
The contractor handles all recycling service
questions and are responsible for delivering
Blue Boxes, blue and yellow recycling bags,
recycling schedules and guides.
Quick Facts about the Recycling Program
- The program is a mandatory service provided to residential property owners.
- Recyclables are collected every two weeks within the Town of Qualicum Beach
with no restriction on amounts that can be put out.
- Recyclable materials include, household plastic containers, glass containers,
food & beverage cans, foil and trays, household paper, newspapers, magazines,
catalogues, clothing, linens and cardboard. Consult your Curbside Recycling Guide
