| THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS ARE TO APPLY:
1. ROAD-SIDE SERVICE
All garbage cans must be placed on the road-side by the customer by 8:00 a.m.
on the day of pick-up.
2. GARBAGE CAN REGULATIONS
One (1) can of .07 cubic meters (2.5 cubic feet/70.8 litres) capacity, being animal
and vermin proof, containing household waste only, weighing not more than 22.65
kg (50 lbs), will be allowed per household (unless a garbage tag is purchased
- see #3 below).
3. EXTRA GARBAGE TAGS
A maximum of 2 EXTRA garbage cans per week (total of 3) will be picked up provided
each extra can has attached a garbage tag. Extra garbage collection tags may be
purchased at the Town office at a cost of $2.00 each.
4. HOUSEHOLD WASTE ONLY
Grass, trees, hedge clippings, leaves, garden refuse, construction waste of any
kind, paint cans*, rocks, etc. and oversized items of any kind exceeding 2 feet
in any dimension will NOT be picked up.
*NB: Paint cans can be taken to QB Recycling Depot, 141 Fourth
Ave E.
5. CARDBOARD
Cardboard will NOT be picked up. For your convenience, a cardboard recycling bin
is situated in the compound at Berwick and 2nd Ave E. The gates will be open Mon.
to Fri. from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. & weekends from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
6. NO LATE PICK-UPS
All garbage containers must be on the road-side by 8:00 a.m. The garbage truck
will NOT return to pick up late garbage.
7. LIQUIDS, GREASES, ASHES
All liquids, greases, sawdust,vacuum cleaner residue ashes, and styrofoam packing
chips must be placed in a suitable sealed container.
8. BANNED RECYCLABLES
Uncontaminated papers, metals , tires, and gypsum have been banned from the landfill,
and must not be mixed with household garbage.
9. RECYCLING PROGRAM
Salish Disposal Ltd. will be collecting recyclable materials from residents.
If your home is newly built or the blue box is missing, please contact Salish
Disposal to obtain your blue box (248-8109). Salish Disposal will be able to provide
you with information on recycling and the day of your pick-ups. For more information
