COVID-19 Communications

Overview
In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 virus to be a worldwide pandemic (the consistent spread of a new disease around the world in a population that has not yet gained immunity). The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the BC Ministry of Health are closely monitoring the situation and will provide guidance, via Island Health to the Town.

The Town continues to implement the following safety protocols (as of July 2022):

  • Masks are optional for the public entering any Town facility
  • Council meetings, Public Hearings and Public Open Houses have returned in-person, being held in Council Chambers, 660 Primrose Street. Council meetings are live-streamed and can be viewed on our Live Streaming webpage. See our media release from April 2022 regarding in-person meetings.
  • Committee meetings have the option to meet in person or via Zoom.
  • All municipal facilities are being cleaned more frequently, especially doors and common areas.
  • Staff are following proper handwashing protocols and respiratory etiquette for coughing and sneezing.
  • Staff are being encouraged to stay home if they feel ill.
