The Town of Qualicum Beach supports the development of a barrier-free Town. Barrier-free in Town of Qualicum Beach means that we will prevent and remove obstacles that inhibit any of our citizens from fully participating in the opportunities enjoyed in our beautiful Town and its neighbourhoods. We strive for inclusive programs and services.

We want to help residents, businesses, and builders to identify and resolve issues regarding accessibility.

Barriers may include:

• Physical – e.g. stairs, high curbs, narrow sidewalks
• Information – small print, hard to find, hard to understand
• Attitude – assuming that disabled people are incapable or uninterested
• Technology – fast traffic lights, phones without TTD
