Phase 1 Engagement Memo
The Town of Qualicum Beach owns a portion of the land called the 'Bus Garage'. The site is in the heart of Qualicum Beach, with tremendous cultural and social value, and this project will help shape the future of the area for many years to come.

Over the years this land has been discussed and its future use envisioned. In 2018, after much public consultation, the Official Community Plan identified potential uses for the space. In 2019-2020, the Town underwent another thorough consultation process, in conjunction with the Vancouver Island University, to produce a Final Vision Report for the 'Bus Garage' and adjacent Qualicum Commons area.

That brings us to today. The Town of Qualicum Beach retained PWL Partnership to lead a public engagement process resulting in a conceptual design for the Bus Garage. The conceptual design was informed by a mobility study that assessed the current state of mobility in the area and identified potential issues and opportunities related to: traffic flow, pedestrian safety, public transit, and parking. The Final Report was brought forward to Council at the July 17, 2024 Regular Council meeting.
