Memorial Avenue is a vital link in the Town’s transportation network that connects the commercial core to the waterfront. With high vehicular speeds and poor visibility, the Memorial Avenue Waterfront Connector – a separated pathway – was a critical priority to promote safe active transportation.
The Town obtained grant funding from Bike BC to help build this multi-use pathway in two phases:
- Phase 1 – The lower portion of the Memorial Avenue multi-use pathway starting from the waterfront, and stretching approximately half the length of Memorial Avenue. This project was completed in 2018.
- Phase 2 – The upper portion of the Memorial Avenue multi-use pathway completed the path from the waterfront to the uptown connector. This project was completed in March 2020.
