East Village Revitalization

East Village Revitalization

The East Village is an area framed by Memorial Avenue, and bordered by Fir Street, Fern Road and Berwick Road, and holds huge potential for the Town.

The East Village Revitalisation project will transform a neglected, uninviting area in Qualicum Beach’s uptown, into a unique and thriving neighbourhood for both businesses and residents. This project will create a distinct neighbourhood by redesigning the area and investing in infrastructure and the public realm to create an inviting public space, which in turn will attract residential and commercial development to the area.

East Village

Specifically, this project includes:

  • Adding public spaces, including a community gathering area with a stage;
  • Re-configuring and repaving the streets to emphasize pedestrians and have a focus on accessibility;
  • Activating the public realm by adding street trees, new lighting, public seating areas and planters;
  • Creating linkages between East Village and the rest of the town by connecting the neighbourhood through the use of streets, laneways and trails; and,
  • Engaging town-owned land to foster creative uses, such as an innovation hub and brew pub.
