Project Overview The Town was awarded almost $2.5 million in provincial funding to construct “Into the Woods Early Learning Studio”, to provide 37 new affordable spaces for children aged three years to kindergarten, and offering extended hours of operation.
The monies helped fund the creation of the studio which is 3,269 square feet, with an outdoor play area, and set within the Town-owned community park. The total project cost was $2,458,355 all of which was covered by grant funding. The Town also contributed $218,219 to upgrade pedestrian accommodations on Dorset Road and provide the land at a nominal cost.
The facility will be operated by a non-profit society "Into the Woods Early Learning Child Care Society", and is a key step in addressing a critical need within our community, especially for underserved populations.
The facility is situated in the Town-owned community park 330 Dorset Rd, nestled within a mature stand of native forest. The studio will provide opportunities for children and operators to engage with nature, both indoors and outdoors.
