Airport Lighting Rehabilitation

Airport Lighting Rehabilitation

Airport lighting The Qualicum Beach Airport received $1,395,360 from the Transport Canada Airports Capital Assistance Program to perform important airfield lighting upgrades, including runway and taxiway LED edge lights. This is timely funding, as many aspects of the lighting were considered urgent, and were well past their expected service lifespan.

The work will include:

  • Runway Edge Lighting
  • Taxiway/Apron Edge Lighting
  • Illuminated Windsocks
  • Upgrade to full Precision Approach Path Indication (PAPI) systems
  • Field Electrical Centre (FEC) Equipment Replacement
  • New FEC Building
  • New Illuminated Airfield Guidance Signs
  • New Apron Floodlighting
Work will commence at the airport on July 25, 2022, and will occur between 10 pm to 6 am to minimize disruption to aircraft traffic. Night work will continue until mid-September, after which time the work will switch to daytime construction.

The project was completed in early 2023. Photos are available here
